To test if a sterilizer is functioning properly, simply process a test indicator vial in a normal
steam sterilization cycle, remove, crush vial and place in incubator along with an unprocessed
and crushed control vial for the required incubation period. Media in test vial will stay purple
signifying a passed test and will turn yellow if any spores remain alive, indicating a failed test.
Growth of surviving spores has been observed in as little as 2.5 hours.
